Cartridge Depot began modestly in a garage in the mid-1990s. Since 2012, it has been operating from a 1,500 square meter head office in eastern Pretoria. The company re-manufactures, imports, distributes, and sells printer cartridges under its own trademark brand, EclipseTM. Additionally, it purchases and sells original equipment manufacturer (OEM) printer cartridges and related products like printing paper and memory devices through its network of Cartridge Depot stores and online.

On January 2, 2024, She Is Hope Proprietary Limited (Registration Number: 2019/456928/07) and Government IT Solutions Proprietary Limited (Registration Number: 2016/198990/07) acquired Cartridge Depot. Kholofelo Hope Nengwenda was appointed Managing Director and is actively involved in daily operations.

At the time of the acquisition, Cartridge Depot operated 17 corporate stores and 4 franchisee-owned stores. For a current list of stores, please refer to our Store Locator.

As a proudly South African company, Cartridge Depot is committed to Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and holds a Level 1 BBBEE contributor status. This dedication to empowerment supports community development and promotes inclusive economic growth.

The Level 1 status highlights Cartridge Depot's commitment to transformation and positions the company as a leader in promoting diversity and equality in the South African business environment.

The head office manages production, inventory, distribution, and logistics. Each store has its own full-time staff, supported by a back-office and field support team from the head office.

With solid systems, procedures, and support structures in place, the directors are excited to pursue a growth strategy through franchising. This approach aims to expand Cartridge Depot's national footprint, making Eclipse's affordable printer cartridges available to a broader customer base.
